      Description
People disappear to Rockton so noone can find them. But the trouble is people also disappear from Rockton. In this sequel to her #1 national bestseller, City of the Lost, New York Times and Globe and Mail bestselling author and master of thrills Kelley Armstrong returns to Rockton for more page-turning suspense.

Everyone’s got a secret in Rockton—secret pasts, secret identities, secret crimes. And in a town where everyone’s running from something, it’s not clear who’s a victim, who’s perpetrator, or when the lines blur, who is both. Take Casey Duncan: she came to Rockton to help her ex-best friend Diana, until she was betrayed and almost killed. But she’s also killed a man and almost gotten away with it. Now, after being drawn in to helping the town solve a series of grisly murders, Casey has settled in Rockton as its chief homicide detective, aided by her town sheriff boyfriend, Eric Dalton.

When a case tracking a runaway from town leaves Casey and Deputy Sheriff Will Anders stranded in a blizzard, they take shelter in a cave, only to discover a woman imprisoned in a deep well. Nicole Chavez—presumed dead after she went missing last year, is apparently alive—though barely. But Nicole doesn’t know her captor’s face, she’s never seen him. When the bodies of two more women are found in the cave system, it becomes clear that Casey needs to solve this case before another victim goes missing. But how do you find a killer in a place where everyone’s got a sordid secret?

“This sequel to City of the Lost is, simply, terrific. . . . Kelley Armstrong’s plot is complex and shows why Casey Duncan is a detective to watch.” —Margaret Cannon, The Globe and Mail

“Kelley Armstrong follows up City of the Lost with . . . more page-turning suspense.” —49th Shelf

“Armstrong keeps the plot turning and cranks up the tension from one chapter to the next. She’s already shown she’s good at that, and A Darkness Absolute is no exception.” —The Oklahoman

PRAISE FOR NATIONAL BESTSELLER CITY OF THE LOST:

“A locked-room mystery on steroids; readers should prepare for an all-nighter to finish it.”
      Booklist

“Best known for her books set in the supernatural Otherworld universe (Otherworld Secrets, etc.), bestseller Armstrong introduces homicide detective Casey Duncan, who’s haunted by a violent crime she once committed, in this excellent first in a new thriller series. . . . A highly unusual set-up sets the stage for a distinctive cast of characters and a page-turning plot.” —Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“The eerie descriptions of setting and chilling character backgrounds give the tale an almost supernatural edge.” —Kirkus Reviews

“[A] good thriller to read by the fire on a weekend evening. The ending will be a surprise to most readers.” —The Millstone

“Armstrong has always been adept at keeping us guessing, as she also does here, about the identity of the serial killer who is picking off Rocktonians in an inventively gruesome way. It's Rockton itself, though, that keeps us turning the pages. Armstrong has fun playing with genre tropes in City of the Lost, and she doesn't limit herself to the paranormal or to crime.” —The Sydney Morning Herald

City of the Lost is one of those books that can keep you reading long after you should have been in bed, asleep. I'm looking forward to a sequel.” —The Oklahoman

“[City of the Lost] may be one of my top favourite reads from Armstrong, and that’s something considering I’ve been a fan from the early days.” —Lost In a Great Book (blog)

“I am excited to see where this story is going. I’m especially curious about this mysterious town.” —Big City Bookworm (blog)

A new spine-tingling thriller from the bestselling master of edge-of-your-seat stories.

When Casey Duncan first arrived at Rockton, the off-the-grid, isolated community built as a haven for people running from their pasts, she had no idea what to expect. There are no cell phones, no internet, no mail and no way of getting in or out without the town council’s approval. She certainly didn’t expect to become the town homicide detective. But, the very last thing she expected was for the council to drop a dangerous criminal into their midst without a plan to keep him imprisoned. And she never thought that she’d have to be responsible for him.

The longer Oliver Brady stays in town, the more people seem to die around him. When evidence begins piling up that someone inside Rockton is working as his accomplice, Casey races to figure out who exactly Brady is and what crimes he’s truly responsible for committing.

With dangerous secrets and heart-stopping twists, This Fallen Prey is Kelley Armstrong’s most gripping thriller yet.

International bestseller and now a major motion picture from one of Canada’s best thriller writers.

Keisha Ceylon is a psychic. At least, that’s what she tells people. She watches the news for stories of missing people, then waits a few days and goes to see the family. She tells them she’s had a vision and that she may know where their missing loved one is—for a price, of course.

Keisha’s latest mark is Wendell Garfield, whose wife disappeared a week ago. She’s seen him on TV, pleading for his wife to come home, or for whoever took her to let her go. Keisha tells Wendell her vision of what might have happened. Unluckily for Keisha, her vision turns out to be alarmingly close to the truth. As she wades deeper into the mystery, Keisha inadvertently finds herself caught in a web of suspicion and violence that’s much more complicated than she first thought—and which may end up with her own disappearance….

      Description
“The world’s greatest adolescent British chemist/busybody/sleuth” (The Seattle Times), Flavia de Luce, returns in a twisty new mystery novel from award-winning and New York Times bestselling author Alan Bradley.

In the wake of an unthinkable family tragedy, twelve-year-old Flavia de Luce is struggling to fill her empty days. For a needed escape, Dogger, the loyal family servant, suggests a boating trip for Flavia and her two older sisters. As their punt drifts past the church where a notorious vicar had recently dispatched three of his female parishioners by spiking their communion wine with cyanide, Flavia, an expert chemist with a passion for poisons, is ecstatic. Suddenly something grazes against her fingers as she dangles them in the water. She clamps down on the object, imagining herself as Ernest Hemingway battling a marlin, and pulls up what she expects will be a giant fish. But in Flavia’s grip is something far better: a human head, attached to a human body. If anything could take Flavia’s mind off sorrow, it is solving a murder—although one that may lead the young sleuth to an early grave.

Story Locale: Bishop’s Lacey, England; Canada

Series Overview: Meet Flavia de Luce: eleven years old and passionate about poisons—although she’s almost as interested in old churchyards and the fascinating chemistry of decay. In the fully-equipped laboratory of her late Uncle Tarquin, Flavia brings to light mysteries that everyone else wishes had been left buried.

      Description
Station Eleven meets The Hunger Games in this ruthless, captivating story of a young woman’s survival in the frozen wilderness of the Yukon after the rest of the world has collapsed.

As the old world dies, we all must choose to become predators. Or become prey.

The old world has been ravaged by war and disease, and as far as Lynn McBride is concerned, her family could be the last one left on earth. For seven years, the McBrides have eked out a meagre existence in the still, white wilderness of the Yukon. But this is not living. This is survival on the brink.

Into this fragile community walk new threats, including the enigmatic fugitive, Jax, who holds secrets about the past and, possibly, keys to a better future. And then there’s Immunity, the pre-war organization that was supposed to save humankind from the flu. They’re still out there, enforcing order and conducting experiments—but is their work for the good of humankind or is something much more sinister at play? In the face of almost certain extinction, Lynn and her family must learn to hunt as a pack or die alone in the cold.

Breakout debut novelist Tyrell Johnson weaves a captivating tale of humanity stretched far beyond its breaking point, of family and the bonds of love forged when everything else is lost. Reminiscent of Station Eleven and The Hunger Games, this is a classic and enthralling post-apocalyptic adventure and a celebration of the human spirit.

Curl up with The Wolves of Winter by a warm fire, and set aside a day, because this is great, absorbing fiction, with one of the most appealing protagonists I’ve ever encountered. It deserves the widest possible audience.”
“Beautifully imagined, dark and chilling, yet ever hopeful too. The reader is given a remarkable heroine in Lynn McBride, a steadfast and resourceful young woman surviving with her family in the wilds of the Yukon and parsing through memories of life before everything collapsed. As I turned the pages, I could sense the coming dangers right alongside her. Tyrell Johnson has imagined a future that feels both faraway and too real, too possible. I simply could not put this book down. What a masterful, haunting debut.”
“This is fiction at its best: a gripping plot, imagery that arrests and illuminates, and characters that will haunt you well beyond the closing of the book. But what sets The Wolves of Winter apart is Tyrell Johnson’s masterfully deliberate lyricism. Every word has been vetted against all other possibilities. The result is a story that pulses from beginning to end. Here is prose that demands to be read. Read it.”
“Full of spirit and hard to put down. Fast-paced, absorbing, haunting; The Wolves of Winter is a pleasure to read.”
“A fast-paced, rollicking ride with thrills, chills, and even a little romance. The Wolves of Winter is The Hunger Games meets The Road with a touch of The Call of the Wild.”
“With The Wolves of Winter, Johnson has created a stark, brutal and all too believable new world. The landscape and conditions are beautifully realized, the writing is deft, sure of itself and from the first page, you know you’re in the hands of a gifted storyteller. This is a stunningly written account of a young woman’s struggle and what a woman she is. Lynn is everything I want in a character; resilient, resourceful, charming and tough, she’ll stay with me for long time. A brilliant book, I loved it.”
“A brilliant, post-apocalyptic thriller that’s part coming-of-age story, part survival epic. Fans of The Hunger Games will love Wolves’ hard-bitten heroine Lynn and her thrilling journey into a frozen, predator-filled landscape. Clever, compelling, cinematic, this story chilled me in all the right ways. I absolutely loved it.”
“Visceral and consuming, The Wolves of Winter depicts a frigid dystopian future where compassion has become the ultimate luxury. Johnson’s novel boldly enters that dangerous gray space between survival and empathy, revealing the ways in which those opposing urges can break open our hearts.”

“A masterpiece of suspense. Written with the narrative tension of some of the finest of post-apocalyptic works, the exquisite terror of Lynn McBride’s predicament in a snow-covered wilderness is so utterly compelling and relevant that readers may find their view of the world changed.”
“Lynn McBride is a kick-ass heroine, negotiating both the apocalypse and her teenage angst with grit and a great sense of humour. There’s heartbreak, loss, triumph, redemption and some fine bloody action, lyrically written. To be savoured!”
