      Lauren B. Davis is the author of The Grimoire of Kensington Market; Against a Darkening Sky; The Empty Room, named one of the "Best Books of the Year" by the National Post, the Winnipeg Free Press, Amazon and the Coast; and Our Daily Bread, longlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize and named one of the "Best Books of the Year" by the Globe and Mail and the Boston Globe.       Bio

      Andrew Wilmot is a writer, editor and painter living in Toronto, ON. He holds a BFA in Visual Arts (with a minor in Film and Video Studies) and a master's degree in Publishing, both from Simon Fraser University. He has won awards for screenwriting and short fiction, with credits including Found Press, The Singularity, Glittership, Turn to Ash, Augur and the anthologies Those Who Makes Us: Canadian Creature, Myth, and Monster Stories and Restless: An Anthology of Ghost Stories, Dark Fantasy, and Creepy Tales. As an editor, he's worked with Drawn & Quarterly, ChiZine Publications, Broken River Books, ARP Books, Playwrights Canada Press, Freehand Books, Wolsak & Wynn and NeWest Press, and is a freelance academic editor specializing in matters of body dysmorphia and eating disorders. Books he's worked on have taken home multiple awards from the Sunburst Awards, the Eisner Awards and, most recently, the Shirley Jackson Awards. He is also co-publisher and co-EIC of the online magazine Anathema: Spec from the Margins. The Death Scene Artist is his first novel.       John Terpstra is the author of ten books of poetry and four books of non-fiction. He often plays in that zone where human beings interact with nature – nature in the city, not the country. The nature he gravitates towards is one that has some experience of us, has had to live with us and our demands, and is no longer pure or whole or perfect, but still somehow manages to be itself – maybe even more than when it was "wild." He is interested in how natural geography and built geography integrate and relate to each other and in how history is simultaneous with now. Daylighting Chedoke is a companion book to his two earlier books about Hamilton as a living, breathing geographical location, Falling into Place and The House with the Parapet Wall.

Her first book, Entry Level, was published with Insomniac Press in 2012. She lives in Hamilton, Ontario.

      In this warm and honest memoir, celebrated academic Njoki Wane shares her journey from her parents' small coffee farm in Kenya, where she helped her mother in the fields as a child, to her current work as a professor at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto.

      Moving smoothly between time and place, Wane uses her past to illuminate her present. The childhood confusion caused by nuns at her boarding school dismissing her proper name and demanding she give them a Christian first name she did not possess, which resulted in many unexpected consequences, leads deftly to her requirement as a professor that her students, and all her colleagues, learn to use and correctly pronounce her first name of Njoki. In similar ways, Wane uses other memories, painful and tender, to show how her early lessons and the support given by her family allowed her to succeed as a woman of colour in the academy and to later lift up her students facing their own difficult journeys. Yet Wane does not gloss over her own growing pains as a young woman, and as an established professor she still questions whether or not her attachment to Western conveniences is wise. For, in the end, Wane never forgets that her story started with the feeling of safety and the clear field of view she received as a child carried on her mother's back.
