Filling a void: There is such a need and market for fun, helpful books geared toward kids on the autism spectrum. Samantha Cotterill has already been getting an overwhelming response.
#ownvoices: This series is very near and dear to Samantha’s heart: She herself is on the autism spectrum, and is very close to others on the spectrum as well.
Not just for kids on the autism spectrum: Going someplace new might be more overwhelming for a child with autism than for a neurotypical child, but many kids find loud, busy places tought to manage.
Entertaining and useful, too: On the surface, the stories told in this series are fun, lighthearted, and sweet, but they also contain powerful tools for parents with sensitive kids.
More to come: The next two Little Senses books will pub in Spring and Fall 2020.
“This charismatic and essential read-aloud will fill a hole that has been too long ignored in library and storytime collections.”—School Library Journal, starred review
“Especially designed for kids with sensory-processing issues, the book has broad applicability beyond that audience…this book will reassure children that they can overcome their anxieties.”—Kirkus Reviews
