Princess Jellyfish was one of the biggest new hit manga of 2016. Akiko Higashimura’s latest has been a hit since its digital debut in the US in February.
Appealing characters and unexpected twists have drawn attention not just from regular manga readers but also from comics insiders like Sam Humphries.
The story is reaching its climax in Japan just as the Tokyo Olympics (a major plot point) loom in 2020. The series will be complete at nine volumes when we begin publishing it in June 2018.
“I love [Tokyo Tarareba Girls] so much. I always come away schooled and inspired.” -Sam Humphries (comics writer, Green Lanterns)
“Above all, a tribute to female friendship…[that] balances out the frequent bittersweet content with easy comedy. Anyone who enjoyed Bridget Jones’s Diary or Sex and the City is likely to find this manga irresistible. Recommended.” -Otaku USA Magazine
“Sharply funny, well-plotted, and empathic…if you are a fan of Princess Jellyfish you should be reading this immediately. Grade A.” -Taykobon
“This fizzy, fast-paced comedy is every bit as good as Higashimura’s Princess Jellyfish, deftly mixing wacky misunderstandings and witty banter with moments of genuine rue and self-reflection.” -The Manga Critic
