These are Indigenous poems in a global context, tackling philosophy, history, epistemology, and placing Indigenous struggles alongside other battles, other atrocities, other genocides. Wabigoon River Poems draws upon Indigenous knowledge and traditions while pushing at the boundaries of what readers might expect Indigenous poetry to be.

Award-winning poet David Groulx was raised in Northern Ontario. He is proud of his Aboriginal roots - Ojibwe Indian and French Canadian. After receiving his BA from Lakehead University, David studied creative writing at the En'owkin Centre in Penticton, B.C. Wabigoon River Poems is David's eighth poetry book.

"David Groulx finds humor in tragedy; signs of an intellectual poet when dealing with brutal reality."-Lola Koundakjian, author of The Accidental Observer and Advice to a Poet and editor of the Armenian Poetry Project."Visceral, lyrical, transgressive -- David Groulx's Wabigoon River Poems are a post-apocalyptic journey through the indigenous experience. Weaving allegorically through time, place, and culture, these poems challenge the state of indigenous poetry. These poems are touchstones and Groulx is an alchemist of language." -Mark McCawley, Urban Graffiti"Wabigoon River starts hundreds of years ago and takes us through history to the present day. We keep turning the pages but the remnants of each poem echo behind us. From the haunting small town to the feast's alluring lips, we are intrigued, seduced and leave knowing so much more." -Katherena Vermette, author of North End Love Songs, winner of 2013 Governor General Literary Award for Poetry
