apart paints a vivid portrait of life in a pandemic, when "normal" is a thing of the past and anxiety is a faithful companion. Some of the writing is sad, even heart-breaking, a few pieces are funny and light-hearted, but many provide som much-needed comfort and imagination in a turbulent time. The writing is thoughtful, carefully observed, and insightful. And running through all the pieces, like a silver thread in a tapestry, is a note of optimism.
Prose and managing editor Dave Margoshes lives near Saskatoon. He's published twenty books of fiction, nonfiction and poetry, and been an editor on newspapers, magazines and of books.
Poetry editor Courtney Bates-Hardy is the author of House of Mystery (2016) and a chapbook, Sea Foam (2013). Her poems can be found in Room, Carousel, and This Magazine, among others. They have been featured in Imaginarium 4: Best Canadian Speculative Poetry and are forthcoming in Best Canadian Poetry 2021. She lives in Regina with her partner and their cat.
