JUVENILE FICTION / Animals / Farm Animals
An adorable baby chicken is the latest addition to the family in this sweet picture book based on a true story. An irresistible and unique twist on a sibling story and for anyone who loves cute baby animals!

Albert the sheep is the only one unhappy about the new addition to the family. Tina is a tiny, fluffy baby chick — and she gets all the attention. Albert is big and loud, and he can’t resist Mom’s vegetables (“Get out of the garden, Albert!”). Sprout the dog doesn’t have time for Albert anymore. The cats only have eyes for Tina. And though he tries his hardest, Albert’s gifts to the family aren’t as welcome as Tina’s eggs.

Then one day, Tina faces a danger and only Albert can save her. Will Albert be able to put his feelings aside and truly welcome Tina into his flock?

Series Overview: Based on Lori Joy Smith’s family and real-life experiences raising animals, including a sheep named Albert and a chicken named Tina. This is a companion book to We Adopted a Baby Lamb and stars many of the same characters.

BASED ON A TRUE STORY: Albert and Tina are real! This story is based on Lori’s experiences raising Albert and Tina with her family. (There are photos of Albert and Tina on the last page of the book.)

UNIQUE TAKE ON A SIBLING STORY: Sheep and chickens may be very different but Albert finds his way to accepting Tina in the end.

GROWING UP IS HARD: Albert learns that he is still worthy even though he isn’t a cute little baby lamb anymore.

ADORABLE ART: Lori’s naive and cheerful style is perfect to depict a sweet but disgruntled lamb as they adapt to the family’s new pecking order.

THEMES OF LOVE AND FAMILY: There is lots of love in this story. It has a family-friendly theme — Albert finds a place in his heart for Tina.

GIFT BOOK: A bright, cheery book featuring a lovable chicken — the ideal book for Easter and spring display tables.

CHICKENS ARE THE NEW DOG: Chickens as pets are growing in popularity, just check out all the cute posts on Instagram!
